Employment Type: Full-time, temporary (approximately 6 months to 1 year, with possible extension), salaried, exempt
Salary Range: $80,000+, commensurate with experience

About the Role

You know the regulations cold. You've just never had the room to run the whole program yourself.

For the next several months, you will. We need an experienced compliance leader to step into our Interim Compliance Officer seat while our current Compliance Officer is out on leave. This isn't a watered-down version of the job. You'll own the same compliance calendar, the same audits, and the same agency relationships across our full portfolio, both 5TM and 5TMSP, market rate and affordable. When our current officer returns, you'll walk away having led compliance for two portfolios on your own, with the track record to prove it.

What You'll Do

• Lead the organization's affordable housing compliance framework across HUD, LIHTC, CHA, IHDA, DOH, and other program rules
• Run our file audit program on schedule, keeping resident eligibility and file compliance accurate across every program
• Own regulatory reporting and agency relationships, including MOR, REAC, NSPIRE, AOC, and IHDA submissions and findings
• Interpret new and changing regulations and translate them into policy our site teams can actually follow
• Deliver compliance training and coaching to property and leadership teams, and track whether it's actually reducing repeat findings
• Identify compliance risk early, escalate it with a recommended fix, and follow corrective action plans through to closure
• Keep compliance dashboards, reporting, and documentation audit-ready at all times
• Represent 5T's standards of integrity and professionalism in every regulator and agency conversation

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Five or more years of affordable housing compliance experience
• Expert working knowledge of HUD, LIHTC, CHA, IHDA, DOH, Section 8, and Fair Housing regulations
• Demonstrated experience leading audits, regulatory reporting, and compliance programs, not just supporting them
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the judgment to make sound calls independently
• Comfortable stepping into an active, deadline-driven compliance calendar for a fixed-term engagement
• Preferred: industry certification (HCCP, COS, BOS, LIHTC), experience leading a compliance team, or experience across multi-agency portfolios
