Step into a Day on the Floor

You arrive for your scheduled shift, review the day’s work orders, and turn blueprints into a plan of action. You’ll set up fabrication equipment—configured for notching, cutting, punching, crimping, and bending—so each run starts right the first time.

Before the line moves, you dial in machine parameters and select the correct program for the part. A first-article check follows: using calipers, micrometers, gauges, templates, rulers, and a tape measure, you verify every critical dimension and tolerance. You align guides, stops, and fixtures to secure and direct metal stock, then load the material and begin production.

As parts come off the machine, you monitor operations and record key run data. You inspect pieces for defects—chipped edges, marred surfaces—and sort any nonconforming parts. When needed, you deburr with a portable grinder to remove sharp edges and burrs. You keep machines clean and lubricated, and you make fine adjustments with hand tools to maintain speed, accuracy, and finish quality. Throughout the shift, you move parts and materials safely using forklifts and overhead cranes.

By the time you wrap up, the area is organized, equipment is ready for the next run, and you’re prepared to take on other duties as assigned.

• Set up, operate, and tend machines to cut, punch, crimp, notch, and bend metal materials
• Select and load correct programs; start machines; monitor production; record operational data
• Measure completed workpieces to confirm specifications using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, rulers, and a tape measure
• Read work orders, production schedules, and blueprints to determine materials, cutting lines, dimensions, and tolerances
• Position, align, and secure workpieces with fixtures or stops; set guides, stops, and holding blocks using hand tools and measuring devices
• Test and adjust machine speeds and actions per product specifications
• Examine finished parts for defects; sort and document nonconformances
• Grind out burrs and sharp edges with portable grinders
• Clean and lubricate machines regularly
• Move parts using forklifts and cranes
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Hands-on experience setting up machines for notching, cutting, and related metal fabrication operations
• Ability to read and work with calipers, micrometers, blueprints, gauges, templates, rulers, and a tape measure
• Comfort using hand tools for adjustments and changeovers
• Attention to detail, safety-first mindset, and reliable pace

• 1st shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
• 2nd shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
