Position Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

The RN staff nurse delivers direct nursing care in alignment with the established policies and procedures of Las Palmas Medical Center and the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners. Collaborating with patients, their families, and other healthcare team members, the clinical RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and coordinates treatment plans and care strategies.

Required Qualifications:

Mandatory Licensure/Certifications:

1. Texas or Compact State Nursing License

1. BCLS Certification

1. NRP Certification

Required Education/Experience:

1. Graduate from an accredited Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing.

2. Proficient oral and written communication skills.

3. Ability to collaborate within a team to ensure high-quality care.

4. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.

5. Excellent critical thinking skills with the capacity to prioritize needs effectively.

6. Capability to lead a team and work as a team member.

7. Outstanding customer service skills following the AIDET philosophy.

8. Proficient in computer usage for charting and order entry.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience in perinatal and neonatal healthcare is preferred.

2. Completion of the S.T.A.B.L.E. course within six months of hire is preferred.

3. RNC certification is preferred.

4. Knowledge in breastfeeding education is preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
• (RN) Registered Nurse designation.
• Neonate Resuscitation, Associate Degree, Bachelors Degree, or Registered Nurse Diploma must be obtained within six months of starting employment.
