Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg/Tele

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse is responsible for evaluating patients and assisting physicians with patient care.

• Plans, implements, and documents nursing care based on patient's needs.
• Identifies patient needs and determines priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Develops, implements and coordinates individualized plan of care for patients assigned through initial and on-going assessments.
• Initiates assessment based on the patient's problems or needs, the physician's medical diagnosis, and the functional health framework.
• Performs therapeutic nursing interventions.
• Manages care of patients.
• Documents care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and/or clinical priorities.
• Advocates for evidence-based practice care standards and supports adoption of evidence-based practices and innovations in care delivery.
• Provides patient centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice model.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education Requirement:

Required Education:

• ASN.

Preferred Education:

• BSN.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• NIHSS.
• Telemetry.
• BLS-AHA.
• CEU Contact Stroke 4 Hours.
• NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license.

Preferred Certifications & Licensure:

• N/A

Additional Required Licenses & Certifications:

• ACLS

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years prior RN experience working in a MS/Tele unit in a major acute care hospital setting required.
• Must have a strong MS/Tele background.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• N/A

Required Hard Skills:

• Critical thinker, medication administration, assessments, strong foundation in pathophysiology.
• Ability to manage high-acuity patients.
• Conduct stroke assessment.

Required Soft Skills:

• Customer Service skills, educating patients, professionalism, and the ability to cope with a fast-paced, demanding work environment.
• Demonstrate integrity.

Schedule Notes:

• 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM 3 x 12 Every Other Weekend Required
• 3 Holidays Required
• No On-Call Requirement
• Floating Required to comparable units
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue
