Field Service Technician

About the Role:

The Field Service Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of rental and leasing equipment by providing expert on-site technical support and maintenance. This position involves diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, including compressors, fire alarm systems, and fiber optic components. The technician will perform preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and extend the lifecycle of assets, directly impacting customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. Working independently in diverse environments, the technician must adapt to various technical challenges and deliver timely solutions. Ultimately, this role is essential for maintaining the safety, functionality, and availability of equipment that supports the company's rental and leasing services operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with computer hardware and diagnostic test equipment.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in field environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Technical certification in electrical or mechanical trades (e.g., HVAC, electronics, or fiber optics).
• Experience working with compressors and power tools in a service capacity.
• Knowledge of fire alarm system installation and maintenance standards.
• Previous experience in the rental and leasing services industry.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Perform on-site troubleshooting and repair of electrical, mechanical, and computer hardware systems associated with rental equipment.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
• Utilize test equipment and diagnostic tools to identify faults and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Install, maintain, and repair fiber optic systems and fire alarm equipment as required by client specifications.
• Document all service activities accurately and communicate effectively with customers and internal teams to provide status updates and technical guidance.

• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for urgent customer inquiries and equipment rental needs.

The required skills such as troubleshooting and electrical troubleshooting are essential for diagnosing and resolving complex equipment issues efficiently during field visits. Proficiency with computer hardware and test equipment enables the technician to accurately assess system performance and implement necessary repairs.
