Principal Software Development Engineer - Network Region Build

Salary: $114,600 - 234,600 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong software engineering experience with Python, Java, Go, or Rust.
• Experience designing scalable APIs, distributed systems, and service-oriented architectures, with an emphasis on modularity, extensibility, maintainability, and operational sustainability.
• Experience building and operating production engineering platforms and supporting Linux-based production environments.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern software development practices.
• Experience designing highly available, resilient, and observable systems.
• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development, automation, documentation, or productivity.
• Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, IPv4, IPv6, DNS, and DHCP.
• Experience in hyperscale cloud, data center, or service provider networking environments.
• Familiarity with Ethernet switching, network fabrics, optical networking, and large-scale infrastructure deployments.
• Experience with network automation technologies such as YANG, OpenConfig, NETCONF, or gNMI.
• Understanding of infrastructure observability, telemetry, monitoring, and operational analytics.
• Preferred experience includes hyperscale cloud infrastructure; infrastructure automation, platform or developer engineering; workflow orchestration, distributed state machines, or long-running infrastructure automation; AI or GPU data center deployments; platforms for large operational organizations; root cause analysis and production incident response; Infrastructure as Code and configuration management; vendor collaboration and platform integration; and advancing engineering excellence through automation and continuous improvement.

• Design, develop, and maintain production software for OCI network deployment and lifecycle management.
• Build and evolve engineering platforms, APIs, automation services, and operational systems for OCIs global network infrastructure.
• Own software solutions from architecture and implementation through deployment, operations, and ongoing improvement.
• Develop scalable automation using modern programming languages and engineering practices.
• Partner with Network Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, and Network Automation teams to turn operational challenges into scalable software solutions.
• Design resilient, observable, highly available platform services and improve reliability, scalability, performance, and operational efficiency.
• Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, deployment workflows, and release processes.
• Troubleshoot production software, infrastructure, and networking issues across distributed systems.
• Lead technical design discussions and help shape the long-term architecture of NRB engineering platforms.
• Create technical documentation, engineering standards, runbooks, and operational best practices.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to support software development, testing, debugging, documentation, and operational workflows, validating outputs with sound engineering judgment.
• Mentor engineers through technical leadership, code reviews, and engineering best practices.

As a Principal Software Development Engineer on our Network Region Build team, youll help power Oracle Cloud Infrastructures global expansion by building platforms, automation, and engineering systems for OCI Regions and AI data centers.
