Test Engineer

Test EngineerThe Test Engineer is responsible for all aspects of product, material and system validation for a wide range of vibration isolation and seismic/noise control products. This position independently performs and coordinates testing in-house and at select supplier partners and supports seismic testing, manages the projects with the labs and customers, secures contractors and execute.Responsibilities not limited to:Using independent discretion and judgment, identify, plan for and ensure proper tools and equipment are in place to allow for proper and timely testingCoordinate and actively manage external shake testing of nonstructural building componentsPlan for and handle all advance test preparation and manage the testing processPerform physical tests on materials, products and customer supplied equipmentPrepare mechanical test fixtures, including non-precision machining to alter test apparatusPerform material acceptance and diagnostic testsAdminister and develop a wide range of testing and development protocolsPerform calibration tests and measurements on equipmentSupport Quality as requiredManage customer expectationsProactively communicate with internal teams, labs, external teams and customers regarding status of projectSupport with writing the project test plan per the project engineers analysis and scope.Create clear and concise documents as required by the project test planCollect the test data to prepare and issue a well written, timely, comprehensive, and professional report document which summarizes and validates the result of all test procedures. These documents reflect the character and integrity of the testing process and outcomeRequirementsQualifications & SkillsProficient in Microsoft Office (Excel formulas) and Microsoft ProjectStrong project management, organization, and problem-solving skillsSelf-starter with the ability to work independentlyConfident communicator with strong follow-throughWork Environment & RequirementsLaboratory setting with occasional extended hoursAbility to lift up to 50lbs and operate lab equipment and mechanical toolsTravel required (25–50%), including possible international travelEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent (4–6 years of progressive mechanical engineering work)Hands-on experience with laboratory machinery and data collection systems - preferredExperience with elastomers, metals, manufacturing, or quality assuranceAt VMC Group we believe in supporting our employees both professionally and personally.
