Borg Design is a rapidly growing precision manufacturing company serving Aerospace, Defense, Medical Device, Robotics, and other advanced technology industries. We specialize in high-precision CNC machined components where quality, reliability, and performance are critical.

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Quality Control Manager / Lead Inspector to lead quality operations within our machine shop. This is a working leadership role that combines active inspection responsibilities with quality oversight, team leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Position Summary

The Quality Control Manager / Lead Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all products meet customer requirements, engineering specifications, and quality standards before shipment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience inspecting precision machined components and the ability to lead and support quality activities throughout the manufacturing process.

This position requires a hands-on professional who is comfortable performing inspections, solving quality issues, mentoring team members, and collaborating with production and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee first article, in-process, and final inspections of precision machined components.
• Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Utilize precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gages, height gages, optical comparators, CMMs, and related inspection tools.
• Ensure products meet customer drawings, purchase order requirements, AS9100 standards, and internal quality requirements.
• Prepare and support First Article Inspections (FAIs).
• Investigate nonconformances and support root cause and corrective action activities.
• Lead daily quality and inspection activities while helping prioritize workflow and resources.
• Train, mentor, and support inspectors and production personnel on quality requirements and inspection methods.
• Maintain quality records, inspection documentation, and compliance requirements.
• Support customer audits, source inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work closely with machinists, programmers, engineers, and management to improve quality and manufacturing performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of quality inspection, quality control, or quality assurance experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
• Experience inspecting precision CNC machined components.
• Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and inspection methods.
• Proficiency with precision measuring equipment and inspection tools.
• Experience with CMM equipment.
• Experience preparing and supporting First Article Inspections (FAIs) preferred.
• Knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality systems preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
