FCC (postpartum) nurses can be floated to L&D to be transition RN skills to perform include:

• baby catcher (6-12 hours of orientation provided)
• transitional care
• newborn care immediately upon delivery
• ability to assess APGAR scores
• able to suction newborn staffing ratios are routinely 1:3 couplet care, with possibility to flex to 1:4 if needed
