SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION

The Junior Project Manager supports the planning, design, installation, startup, and completion of

facility, equipment, infrastructure, and process-improvement projects at VRC Technologies. This

early-career role develops in-house engineering capabilities through practical design, technical

documentation, resource coordination, cost control, scheduling, planning and hands-on field

support.

The Junior Project Manager works and collaborates across teams such as Operations, Maintenance,

EHS, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and external contractors, and helps deliver projects safely,

on time, and within budget. The role independently manages smaller projects while receiving

guidance on larger or higher-risk initiatives. Attention to detail, teamwork, safety awareness,

field presence, and accurate documentation are essential. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Planning, Scope Development, and Prioritization

• Support the identification, definition, and prioritization of capital, maintenance, and

process-improvement projects.

• Develop project charters, problem statements, alternatives, cost-benefit analyses, risks,

assumptions, and expected benefits.

• Perform field walks, measurements, equipment reviews, utility checks, and stakeholder interviews

to understand current conditions and project requirements.

• Prepare schedules, resource plans, responsibility assignments, and project execution strategies

for review and approval.

In-House Engineering Design and Technical Development

• Develop in-house designs, layouts, sketches, equipment arrangements, piping concepts, utility

requirements, and installation details appropriate to the project scope.

• Create or update drawings and technical documents, equipment layouts, line lists, utility

diagrams, bills of material, scopes of work, datasheets, and design-basis documents.

• Use CAD and engineering tools to produce clear, controlled, and constructible design packages;

coordinate professional engineering review or stamping when required by code, regulation, or

project risk.

• Evaluate equipment options, materials of construction, capacities, process requirements,

maintainability, safety features, and compatibility with existing plant systems.

• Ensure designs account for safe access, operability, maintenance, housekeeping, future expansion,

and operational continuity.

Project Execution, Installation, Commissioning, and Startup

• Coordinate approved projects from design through procurement, installation, commissioning,

startup, turnover, and closeout.

• Prepare bid packages, conduct contractor and vendor site walks, answer technical questions,

compare proposals, and support recommendation of qualified suppliers and contractors.

• Coordinate work with Operations, Maintenance, EHS, Quality, Production Planning, contractors, and

vendors to minimize disruptions and ensure safe execution.

• Monitor field progress, workmanship, schedule, cost, scope, safety, and quality; promptly

identify deviations, risks, delays, and required decisions.

• Develop and manage punch lists, startup plans, testing requirements, acceptance criteria,

training needs, and turnover activities.

Safety, Environmental Compliance, and Management of Change

• Apply VRC safety requirements, contractor controls, and safe-work planning to all project

activities.

• Support Management of Change (MOC), pre-startup safety review (PSSR), hazard reviews,

environmental evaluations, and operational readiness activities as applicable.

• Coordinate with EHS and Operations to identify project-related hazards, permitting needs, waste

or emissions impacts, emergency considerations, and required safeguards.

• Ensure installation and startup activities follow approved procedures, drawings, specifications,

manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes and standards.

• Stop work or escalate when unsafe conditions, uncontrolled changes, inadequate documentation, or

unacceptable project risks are identified.

Project Cost Control, Procurement, and Governance

• Prepare and maintain project cost estimates, approved budgets, cash-flow forecasts, commitments,

actual costs, projected final costs, contingencies, and variance explanations.

• Prepare purchase requisitions and supporting documentation; verify project coding, GL or CIP

allocation, receiving status, invoices, and cost reconciliation with Finance and Accounting.

• Follow VRC approval limits, sourcing expectations, purchase-order requirements, contract

controls, and change-order governance.

• Evaluate vendor and contractor proposals based on scope compliance, technical capability, safety,

schedule, total installed cost, warranty, and long-term support.

• Provide timely updates to the Project Manager and leadership regarding project status,

deliverables, schedule, cost, risks, decisions, and resource needs.

Project Documentation, Asset Information, and Closeout

• Maintain organized project files including approved charters, scopes, drawings, quotations,

purchase orders, schedules, meeting notes, inspection records, change documentation, invoices,

testing records, and closeout packages.

• Ensure redlines and as-built drawings are completed, reviewed, approved, and stored in the

designated document-control system.

• Collect and organize equipment manuals, warranties, spare-parts recommendations, inspection

requirements, preventive-maintenance information, and operator or maintenance training records.

• Coordinate project turnover to Operations and Maintenance, including ownership, procedures,

training, asset identification, critical spares, and outstanding actions.

• Support CIP-to-fixed-asset closeout, asset labeling, project financial reconciliation, lessons

learned, and post-implementation performance review.

Cross-Functional Support and Continuous Improvement

• Provide engineering support for equipment reliability, production constraints, process

improvements, facility needs, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.

• Assist Operations and Maintenance with development or revision of procedures, work instructions,

inspection standards, and day-to-day technical practices associated with implemented projects.

• Participate in project reviews, planning meetings, audits, contractor evaluations, and

improvement initiatives.

• Promote standardization, reusable design practices, engineering knowledge retention, and

continuous improvement across the project portfolio.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support internal audits, customer visits, regulatory inspections, management reviews, and

technical meetings as required.

• Maintain confidentiality of company, customer, technical, project, financial, personnel, and

proprietary information.

• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support VRC operations and business

objectives.
