CarpenterMaintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.Experience and qualifications as deemed appropriate and acceptable for the position Valid Texas driver's license and a clear driving record (submit copy with application)Constructs and repairs structural woodwork such as counters, cabinets, partitions, floors, doors and frame work.Works from blueprints, drawings, and oral instruction as appropriate.Uses all carpentry and power tools in a safe manner.Installs glass in windows, doors and partitions.Replaces damaged ceiling and floor tiles.Builds cabinets and other wooden equipment in carpentry shop, using woodworking machines, such as powersaws, shaper and joiner.Complies with safety and hazardous laws and regulations in the performance of his/her job.Attends meetings as required or directed by supervisors.Works extra-curricular functions outside of regular assigned work schedule as requested to include football game, elections days, weekends, etc.Works outside of regular assigned work schedule to repair and/or replace needed facilities to include night and/or weekend duty as requested.Valid Texas Driver's license.Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing during regular business hours to confer with district personnel.Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job responsibility unless instructed to work from home by supervisor.Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.In the event of a school closure in response to a disaster, flood, extreme weather condition, fuel curtailment, epidemic, pandemic or other calamity, the following duties and responsibilities will be added to the above listed Major Job Responsibilities and Duties, as directed by the Superintendent.Usage of personal equipment, including but not limited to personal cellular phone, personal computer, and personal internet service when working from home during a District closure due to government or Board order or during an emergency affecting normal District operations.Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor. All employees are expected to comply with lawful directives.Reading; ability to understand verbal instructions. Strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing; heavy lifting and carrying.
