Transient Collections assistant


Overview
Transient collections assistants will work closely with collections staff on projects ranging from inventory, processing incoming artifacts, updating and maintaining museum records, preservation of artifacts, researching artifacts, and composing interpretive labels. Assistants will help with cleaning and maintenance of the collection, including specialized, detailed cleaning and constructing proper housings for objects in Collections storage. They will provide support and research for exhibit development and installation. They will also assist in the day-to-day needs to support the efficient function of the collections department.
Duties also include other museum needs, such as tour assistance, occasional front desk assistance, and special event support.

Requirements and Qualifications
-Detail-oriented
-Excellent written communication skills
-Knowledge of various computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite
-Must be able to work as part of a team and independently
-Should be flexible in transitioning between a variety of tasks
-Reading, writing, and research skills
-Knowledge of PastPerfect V museum software
