Job Id: 241 # of Openings: 0 Medical Assistant The Medical Assistant verifies patient information by interviewing the patient, recording medical history, and documenting purpose of visit. They prepare patients for examination, assist in procedures as appropriate and perform a variety of patient care tasks under the supervision of a licensed health care provider. Duties range widely from administrative to clinical. Duties range widely from administrative to clinical. Key Responsibilities: General: Maintaining patient privacy and always adhering to HIPAA guidelines. Using computer applications- performing any data entry tasks to document patient demographics, records or note to file. Documenting patients' medical information, including medical history and review of symptoms within EHR of patients’ chart. Managing office telephone system, including answering calls and returning messages. Scheduling patient appointments and maintaining communication to confirm future appointments when necessary. Informing patients on laboratory results and documenting properly within chart. Updating and filing patient medical records and or any patient correspondence. Coding and filling out insurance forms. Transmitting prescription or refill requests as directed by provider. Obtaining prescription authorizations for patient medications. Reporting and recording applicable diagnosis of malignant results to the FCDS portal. Creating certified letter communication for noncompliant patients needing treatment for malignant results. Inform management of clinical supplies needed. Occasional travel to other clinic locations including Marble Falls, Llano, and Bee Cave. Clinical Duties: Welcoming and greeting patients. Maintaining HIPAA and always performing OSHA standards. Taking medical histories, recording patients' chief complaint and documenting provider evaluation notes of visit in patients’ chart. Monitoring and documenting patient symptoms for physicians' review during clinical exams. Preparing patients for examination-Prepping exam rooms for clinical, surgical or cosmetic procedures and assisting providers during exams with patient care. Preparing and administering medications as directed by a provider. Explaining treatment procedures to patients. Ensuring all consents are signed by the patient prior to provider performing any type of procedure. Pre and post photos to be taken and documentation to be listed in detail for any procedure, biopsy or surgical along with cosmetic. Collecting, labeling and preparing laboratory specimens. Instructing patients about medication. Removing sutures and changing dressings. Maintaining proper cleaning of medical instruments and sterilization. Reviewing office use medication and patient samples expiration dates. Properly disinfecting and restocking of medical supplies in patient exam rooms. Providing compassionate patient support and care, attention and assistance during office visits. Being a patient Liaison. Medical assistants are instrumental in helping patients feel at ease in the physician’s office. Mohs Surgery Responsibilities Prepare surgical suites for Mohs procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments, supplies, and sterile equipment are available. Assist the Mohs surgeon during surgical procedures using sterile technique. Prepare sterile instrument trays and maintain the sterile field throughout surgery. Assist with patient positioning, local anesthetic preparation, and procedural setup. Provide patients with detailed verbal and written postoperative instructions. Monitor patient comfort throughout surgical procedures and recovery. Coordinate surgical schedules, pathology communication, and postoperative follow-up appointments. Ensure surgical equipment is cleaned, sterilized, and maintained according to OSHA and infection control standards. Qualifications: Minimum High school diploma or equivalent. Medical Assistant Certification strongly preferred. Minimum of one (1) year of Medical Assistant experience, preferably in Dermatology or a closely related specialty; with a willingness and genuine interest to learn. Ability to travel between clinic locations as needed and applicable to provider coverage. Bilingual skills are a plus; not required. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively prioritize work and adapt quickly to changing circumstances in a fast‑paced environment. Strong team player with the ability to collaborate and work cohesively with others. Ability to maintain professionalism and composure under pressure. Highly adaptable and receptive to change. Strong multitasking skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make appropriate decisions with minimal supervision.
