Loan Analyst Sr - Underwriter

SUMMARY OF THE JOB:

Reporting to the Supervisor of Home Equity and Underwriting, the incumbent is responsible for preparing complete loan packages of all consumer loans including Home Equity Credit lines, Home Equity Fixed loans and Overdraft Lines of Credit, underwriting files within established guidelines, and ensuring that documents conform to established guidelines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Retail Loan Analyst compiles information and data into a completed loan package. Knowledge of Bank and investor guidelines for consistency of underwriting within the department, and verifies that supporting documents and loan applications conform to such guidelines. Performs thorough analyses of credit documentation and appraisals to assess borrowers' credit-worthiness, and assesses collateral risk. Independently handles majority of customer financing requests on all Consumer Loan types. Approves applications within underwriting authority. Identifies problem situations, and acts proactively to resolve situations by securing additional documentation. Responsible for ensuring that all work is completed in a timely efficient manner and that appropriate risk analysis is performed. Ensures compliance of files assigned for either underwriting or data integrity review within bank underwriting guidelines. Accurately inputs data into origination system, and maintains an up-to-date database. Ensures the timely and accurate entry of HMDA and CRA data in the loan operating system. Counsels branch personnel regarding financing alternatives within policy. Maintains effective working relationships with branch personnel and other internal contacts. Loan Authority: Based on individual authority (see loan approval matrix). 100 files in pipeline per month Minimum knowledge/skills: Minimum of 3-5 years of loan processing and consumer loans underwriting is required
