Freshman English Assistant (GA) - Fall 2026- Spring 2027 Job Category : COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCE Requisition Number : FRESH003753 Location South Carolina, Greenville, SC 29614, USA Description This nine‑month academic graduate assistant position is available only to those pursuing post‑graduate studies at Bob Jones University. The position begins August 2026 and requires at least 30 hours each week. Responsibilities include facilitating En 101 and 102, grading, and meeting one‑on‑one with students. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Meeting regularly with students on an individual basis for tutoring and mentoring Grading assigned compositions and providing direct feedback to students, both orally and in writing Staffing the Writing Center Clerical responsibilities in En 101 or En 102 classes Taking and reporting attendance Distributing handouts Collecting papers and exercises Monitoring student submissions to Canvas Grading quizzes and tests (GradeMaster) Performing any other tasks as assigned by the lecture professor, the division chair, or the dean Performing university‑related duties as assigned (e.g., student check‑in in August, AACS in April) Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Critical thinking and reading skills Ability to meet deadlines Communication skills in one‑on‑one tutoring situations Ability to write academic prose well Proficient in Microsoft Word Qualifications Bachelors or better in English or related field.
