Lead Diesel Mechanic - Fleet Technician - Ready-Mix

What You’ll Do Promote Safety: Prioritize safety for yourself and others in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards, and follow all safety, lock out lock out tag out, and environmental rules and procedures. Repair and Maintain Mobile Equipment: Service, repair, adjust, maintain, and test Concrete Ready Mix Trucks and support equipment; perform routine preventive maintenance, lubricate, make adjustments, conduct failure analysis, and correct repairs; repair hydraulic hoses, lighting, brakes, suspension, and AC work; keep a clean and well‑organized work area. Inspect Equipment and Material: Inspect all mobile equipment to identify and troubleshoot causes of errors, diagnose defects, and perform necessary repairs. Create Work Orders: Document all repairs and services with accurate, legible information. Communicate: Coordinate with personnel to ensure proper, safe, and preventive vehicle maintenance. Use Equipment: Operate various tools, such as cutting torch, air and hand tools, jacks, grinders, and drill press. Perform General Physical Activities: Move the whole body and use arms and legs for climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned. Skills You’ll Need Experience: Previous experience in the mechanical field is required. Certifications: MED HVY Truck ASE Certification is preferred. Communication Skills: Ability to read memos, follow instructions, and communicate verbally with colleagues to solve problems. Basic Math Skills: Ability to add, subtract, and use basic units of measurement. Flexibility: Willingness to work overtime and extended hours as required by customer and company demands; ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and tolerate loud noise.
