We are seeking a reliable, adaptable, and professional Temporary In-Person Event Executive Assistant to the CEO to assist our CEO, Diego Mariscal, during conferences, events, and work-related travel.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to support a globally recognized disability entrepreneur and nonprofit leader while gaining access to high-level conference, networking opportunities, and professional events that many people would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend.

As an In-Person Event Executive Assistant to the CEO, you will support Diego Mariscal from October 20-22, 2026, during the Harkin Summit. Throughout the summit, you will assist Diego with travel logistics, meetings, networking events, speaking engagements, and other event-related activities.

Diego uses an electronic wheelchair, so this role requires someone who is comfortable assisting with accessibility logistics, coordinating transportation, navigating conference venues, and adapting quickly as schedules and priorities change throughout the day.

You will meet Diego at the airport upon his arrival and provide support throughout the duration of the summit and travel schedule, including accompanying him back to the airport upon his departure.

This role requires someone who is dependable, flexible, professional, calm under pressure, and comfortable making last-minute adjustments. It is not a traditional caregiving role. Instead, it is best suited for someone who is proactive, highly organized, resourceful, and excited to be part of a fast-paced, mission-driven environment while supporting a globally recognized disability entrepreneur and nonprofit leader.

Responsibilities

• Meet Diego at the airport upon arrival and accompany him back to the airport upon departure
• Assist with luggage, lifting luggage, transportation of Diego's electronic wheelchair, and hotel arrival/departure logistics, including helping unpack and organize belongings as needed
• Coordinate wheelchair-accessible transportation including local metro, taxis, rideshares, and other travel logistics
• Assist Diego during conferences, speaking engagements, meetings, networking events, and travel
• Help navigate conference venues, hotels, airports, restaurants, and event spaces
• Assist with accessibility-related logistics and problem-solving throughout the day
• Help ensure smooth transitions between meetings, speaking engagements, and event sessions
• Run errands and assist with logistical tasks throughout the day as needed
• Provide on-the-ground support during conferences and travel
• Be responsive and adaptable as schedules and priorities shift throughout the day
• Occasionally assist with light administrative or coordination support during events
• Maintain professionalism and discretion while interacting with partners, sponsors, donors, executives, and other high-level stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with physical disabilities is a plus
• Experience working with clients or individuals with Cerebral Palsy is helpful but not required
• Experience in hospitality, customer service, accessibility support, executive support, event coordination, or caregiving is a plus
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfortable navigating busy conferences and event spaces
• Strong problem-solving abilities
• Able to think quickly and proactively
• Comfortable with schedule changes and last-minute adjustments
• Comfortable working extended hours during conferences, travel days, and event schedules when needed
• Speaking both English and Spanish is preferred, but Spanish is not required

Compensation & Perks

• Flat compensation of $450 USD for the event.
• Because of the CEO's travel schedule and event needs, workdays will extend beyond traditional business hours (beyond a 8 hour working day).

Additional Details

• This is a temporary contract role supporting the CEO exclusively during the Harkin Summit in Des Moines, Iowa from October 20-22, 2026.
• Event support will take place over three (3) consecutive days.
• Days will require early mornings, evenings, and extended hours 
• Prior experience is helpful but not required for the right candidate

Onboarding Process

Once selected, the Director of Operations will schedule an introductory meeting between the In-Person Event Executive Assistant to the CEO and Diego prior to the event. xhyhwjd This meeting will provide an opportunity to:

• Get to know one another
• Review event logistics and schedules
• Discuss expectations and communication preferences
• Review accessibility and transportation needs
• Answer questions prior to the event or travel dates
