Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Nights

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 25-bed Progressive Care Unit serving a heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, craniectomy, and orthopedic patient population
• Manage RN patient ratios of 1:5–6, delivering safe and effective care across assigned patients
• Administer and monitor drips including Heparin, PCA, and 3% Sodium (no titration required)
• Operate and monitor specialty equipment including telemetry, chest tubes, and Airvo devices
• Perform EKG strip reading, measuring, and telemetry monitoring
• Float across multiple campuses as needed to support staffing needs

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of experience in Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care in a hospital or medical center setting
• Neurology/neurosurgery care experience required
• Orthopedic care experience required
• Drip experience with Heparin, PCA, and 3% Sodium/Na required
• EKG/strip reading and telemetry experience required
• Active Iowa RN license or active Compact/Multistate RN license required at time of submission
• Active AHA or ARC BLS certification required
• Active AHA or ARC ACLS certification required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Must have completed at least one travel assignment within the previous 12 months; first-time travelers are not eligible
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (based on driver's license)
• Candidates must be available to work 1–2 of the upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Trauma Level I experience highly preferred
• Experience with specialty equipment including telemetry, chest tubes, and Airvo highly preferred
• NIHSS certification preferred (may be obtained during onboarding)
• De-escalation certificate preferred (CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA accepted)
