Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to a general med/surg patient population, including overflow post-operative surgical (hips/knees) and psychiatric patients
• Manage patient ratios of 4–5:1 on a 24-bed unit
• Administer and monitor heparin drips and other ordered medications and treatments
• Utilize remote telemetry monitoring in coordination with the tele tech unit
• Serve in a charge nurse capacity as assigned
• Float across multiple campuses as required by unit needs

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of current Med Surg / Medical Surgical / Med Surg Telemetry nursing experience
• Active Iowa RN license or active Compact/Multistate RN license required at time of submission
• BLS certification through AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC (American Red Cross) required
• Charge nurse experience required
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR required
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (verified by driver's license)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for psychiatric patients
• Preceptor experience
• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months
• Willingness and ability to extend beyond the initial 13-week contract
