The Accountant III within the Office of Healthcare Payment Methodology will be responsible for performing advanced, complex professional accounting work with broad scope and responsibility. This position is responsible for completing hospital rate setting activities, analyzing reports, validating calculations, and remaining compliant with state and federal regulations. Key responsibilities include reviewing desk review cost-to-charge ratio (CCR) calculations, reviewing hospital cost reports, and interpreting Provider Statistical and Reimbursement (PS&R) Reports. The position also involves interpreting and/or developing policy, conducting claims payment analysis, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and completing assignments within established deadlines. The ideal candidate must be proficient in creating and maintaining complex Excel spreadsheets, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail within the payment methodology department. Additional duties and special projects may be assigned as needed.

What you'll need to be successful: The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of general accounting principles and administrative regulations, along with sound financial management skills. Candidates must be able to interpret federal and state policies and demonstrate the ability to quickly learn agency payment systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as well as excellent attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including creating and maintaining complex spreadsheets, and Microsoft Word is required. The candidate should be highly organized, able to prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with others in a professional environment. Preferred Qualifications Typically requires a bachelor's degree and 4-5 years of experience and/or appropriate certification. Hiring agency preferred qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field, along with 4-5 years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, financial reporting, reimbursement, financial analysis, or related financial functions.
