Role Description The Counseling Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role located in Rensselaer, NY. This role oversees counseling staff, ensuring that participants receive consistent, high-quality guidance and support related to academic progress, vocational training, personal development, and career planning. The Counseling Supervisor monitors caseloads, reviews counseling plans and documentation, and provides coaching, performance feedback, and training to counseling team members. Daily responsibilities include coordinating with instructional and residential staff, facilitating case conferences, responding to participant concerns, and implementing counseling policies and procedures in alignment with Job Corps and organizational standards. The role also involves tracking outcomes, preparing reports, and contributing to program improvements that support participant retention and success. Qualifications Demonstrated experience in counseling, social work, or related student support services, preferably in an educational, vocational training, or youth development setting. Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff, including managing workloads, coaching performance, and fostering a collaborative, participant-centered team culture. Strong skills in case management, documentation, and compliance with organizational and federal program requirements. Effective communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills for working with diverse participants, staff, and external partners. Ability to organize multiple priorities, analyze program data, and contribute to continuous improvement in counseling services and outcomes. Proficiency with basic office software and electronic record systems used for participant tracking and reporting. Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, education, or a related field; an advanced degree or relevant licensure is preferred.
