Location: Romeoville, IL
Job Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time | Onsite
Pay: $35.00 – $36.00/hour
Shift: 2nd Shift | Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:30 PM
Schedule: Occasional Saturdays and overtime as needed

Position Overview

We are seeking Maintenance Technician II professionals to join a high-volume food manufacturing facility in Romeoville, IL. This role is responsible for keeping production equipment, facility systems, and utilities operating safely and reliably.

You will spend the majority of your shift on the production floor troubleshooting equipment, performing preventive maintenance, responding to maintenance needs, and helping improve equipment reliability and uptime.

What You'll Do

• Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain production, packaging, and facility equipment
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic plumbing issues
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize equipment downtime
• Respond to maintenance calls and prioritize repairs based on production needs
• Troubleshoot and work with PLCs, VFDs, and HMIs
• Assist with equipment setup, startup, shutdown, operation, and changeovers
• Complete work orders, document repairs, and track labor through a CMMS system
• Inspect equipment and identify potential issues before they result in equipment failure
• Support equipment reliability, continuous improvement, and downtime reduction initiatives
• Maintain machine guarding and ensure equipment is operating safely
• Participate in shift handoff meetings and communicate outstanding maintenance needs
• Help develop and document equipment operating parameters and maintenance procedures
• Support facility maintenance, including building, office, and grounds repairs
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with GMP, HACCP, food safety, and company standards

What We're Looking For

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Previous industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Basic plumbing troubleshooting and repair experience
• Experience performing preventive maintenance
• Working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, and HMIs
• Ability to read, complete, and document work orders using a CMMS
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work overtime and occasional Saturdays as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Food or beverage manufacturing experience
• Experience with machine shop equipment such as mills, presses, and brakes
• Formal training in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or a related technical discipline
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or structured problem-solving methodologies
