Melabiz Community Hub is a peer-led, credible-messenger organization serving justice-involved and system-impacted youth ages 12–24 across Maricopa County. The Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) serves as the independent clinical anchor for our mental-health and wellness work. This clinician provides individual and group counseling, facilitates healing-centered workshops, delivers crisis support, and coordinates care. Because this position is filled by an independently licensed clinician, it carries no requirement for external clinical supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide independent individual and group counseling to youth and young adults ages 12–24.

• Conduct assessments and contribute to individualized case planning.

• Facilitate and co-facilitate workshops on emotional regulation, conflict resolution, healthy relationships, and life skills.

• Deliver crisis support, de-escalation, and safety planning; make referrals to higher levels of care when needs exceed program scope.

• Coordinate care with case managers, peer mentors, and community partners (warm hand-offs).

• Maintain clinical documentation to clinical, ethical, funder, and contract standards.

• Support an affirming, identity-safe environment for all youth, including LGBTQIA+ young people.

• Uphold mandated-reporting obligations under Arizona law.

Required Qualifications

• Active, independent Arizona LPC license in good standing with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. Out-of-state LPCs eligible to practice in Arizona through the Counseling Compact may apply.

• Master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field.

• Experience providing clinical services to youth and young adults.

• Working knowledge of trauma-informed care, CBT, and motivational interviewing.

• Strong clinical documentation and reporting skills.

• Ability to practice independently within a community-based setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with justice-involved, system-impacted, or high-risk youth.

• Group and workshop facilitation experience.

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) — a plus, not required.

• Affirming, LGBTQIA+-competent clinical practice.

Scope & Independence

As an independently licensed clinician, the LPC may assess, diagnose, and treat within their scope of practice and training without external supervision. The clinician refers to other professionals when a youth's needs fall outside their expertise (for example, psychiatric or substance-use treatment), maintaining continuity of housing and peer support during any referral.
