Mammography Technologist-Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center-Per Diem

Job Description Responsible for operating X-ray equipment that produces radiographs of designated areas of the body for diagnostic purposes, assists physicians during imaging procedures, reviews and correlates patients' previous reports, acts as a point of contact for various medical departments, ensures proper documentation during exams, performs specimen imaging when necessary and ensures proper labeling and forwarding to pathology. Principal Accountabilities Position patient on examining table and change immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area requested by physician. Explain procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation. Move X‑ray equipment into specified position and adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance based on knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols. Practice radiation protection techniques using beam‑restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to patient and staff. Operate mobile X‑ray equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside. Specialize in production of screening and diagnostic X‑rays for detection of breast tumors. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Associate’s Degree in an accredited RT Program or related field. State RT license. ARRT Mammography Certification. CPR Certified. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of 200 mammography exams performed within past 24 months. Minimum 1 year of clinical experience as a staff technologist in Mammography or relevant area. Certifications such as ARDMS, BLS, RHM, CRT.
