Summary:

Palmer Foundry is seeking a self-motivated individual to join our No Bake melt team (experienced melter preferred). You will be responsible for preparing, melting, and delivering high-quality molten aluminum for our casting processes. Must have good reading, math, and retention skills.

This position may require access to export-controlled technology or software source code that is subject to export controls restrictions under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”) and will therefore be required to meet eligibility criteria under ITAR and EAR regulations.

Duties:

• Control gas & electric induction furnace to melt metal in accordance with work instructions.
• Enter all data required for operation
• Test metal per specifications (sample disks/RPT tests)
• Use additives for the metal per spec
• Reload ladles after each pour
• Retrieve ingot and scrap for furnaces
• Recharge furnace with ingot and scrap
• Pour molds per specification
• Operate and maintain furnaces
• Assist with closing and mold preparation
• Inspect crane system
• Maintain ladles
• Degas metal per specifications
• Lead or assist with performing maintenance on equipment
• Use of measurement instruments
• Clean and maintain area
• Complete department safety sheets
• Complete other duties/assignments as directed by management

Education/Experience:

No specific education or certification is required, however, high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is desired.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add and subtract

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of database software.

The successful candidate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100pounds (hoists and other mechanical lifting devices are used to assist with lifting heavy loads).

Schedule:

6:00 am - 2:30 pm (overtime may also be available after scheduled shift and/or on Saturdays)
