Registered Nurse - Acute Rehab - Full Time Days

About the Unit Kindred Hospital Paramount’s Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) is an 18‑bed unit within a 177‑bed hospital that also houses 159 LTACH beds. The ARU provides 24‑hour clinical care to patients recovering from acute injury, impairment or illness, in partnership with physicians and on a 24‑hour basis seven days a week. Job Summary Provides planning and delivery of direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Develops nursing care plans in coordination with patients, families and interdisciplinary staff, communicates changes in patient condition to physicians, nursing supervisors/managers and co‑workers, and participates in discharge planning. Essential Functions Maintains standard of nursing care and implements hospital and department policies. Directs, supervises, provides and evaluates nursing care. Assigns or delegates tasks based on patient needs, potential for harm, task complexity and staff scope of practice. Assigns nursing team members according to patient needs and team qualifications. Documents patient admission assessment, reassessments, care plans and other pertinent information per nursing standards. Performs assessments on all patients at admission and during reassessments, making referrals to other disciplines as needed. Develops and updates nursing care plans, ensuring coordination with patient, family and team members. Assesses pain, utilizes appropriate management techniques, and educates patients and families. Revises care plans based on treatment response and evaluates plan effectiveness daily. Considers patient age in care responsibilities. Receives physician orders, ensures transcription accuracy, and documents completion. Administers medication using the five rights of medication administration to reduce errors. Creates teaching plans based on identified learning needs, evaluates effectiveness, and includes family when appropriate. Assists physicians with examinations, treatments, and procedures within scope of practice. Provides services at the level of licensure. Treats patients and families with respect and dignity, addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers. Engages patients/families in care planning. Interprets patient data to identify age‑specific needs and provide appropriate care. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes safety and reduces errors. Initiates/assists with emergency measures for sudden adverse developments. Answers phone, paging system, and patient call lights, anticipating needs and making rounds. Consults other departments to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient needs. Provides end‑of‑shift reports, counts narcotics, completes documentation, and signs off physician orders. Communicates clearly with management, co‑workers, and physicians. Addresses psychosocial needs and communicates with Social Service/Discharge Planner regarding in‑hospital and post‑discharge needs. Participates in orientation, instruction, and training of new personnel. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Expectations Knowledge of medication administration based on age and clinical condition. Basic computer knowledge. Ability to organize tasks, develop action plans, set priorities and work effectively under stress. Ability to maintain good relationships within and across departments. Time travel: 0 %. Qualifications Education Postsecondary certificate, diploma, or program graduation from an accredited nursing school (Required). Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Preferred). Licenses & Certifications Registered Nurse (RN) – state or compact state licensure (Required upon hire). Basic Life Support (BCLS) (Required upon hire). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (Preferred upon hire). Experience Six months of medical/surgical nursing experience in an acute care setting (Preferred). Demonstrated critical thinking, decision‑making, and prioritization in a fast‑paced clinical environment (Preferred). Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $44.38 – $56.38 per hour; $15,000 sign‑on bonus.
