Advocate Supervisor
CASA of Adams and Broomfield Counties is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for children and youth involved in the child welfare system so every child can be safe, have a permanent home, and the opportunity to thrive. We recruit, train, and support community volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or are court involved or at risk due to truancy. In Adams and Broomfield Counties, more than 400 children benefit from the life-changing advocacy of a CASA Volunteer each year. CASA Volunteers provide a critical voice for these children in court, advocating for their best interests. Our CASA Volunteers come from all walks of life and have a shared commitment towards improving children's future outcomes.
We are committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion and seek team members who bring diverse perspectives and lived experiences to this work and who are representative of the population we serve.
The Advocate Supervisor manages and supports a caseload of CASA volunteers as they advocate for children in complex and often high-stakes situations. This role focuses on coaching, guidance, and accountability to ensure volunteers provide consistent, high-quality advocacy aligned with CASA standards.
This position does not provide direct services to children or families. Instead, it supports volunteers in navigating challenging cases, making sound decisions, and representing the best interests of children.
The work includes regular exposure to emotionally difficult situations. Successful candidates bring professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to support others through complex and sensitive case dynamics.
Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer Management
Supervise and manage a caseload of CASA volunteers (up to ~40), ensuring consistent, high-quality advocacy.
Conduct thorough case opening meetings with volunteers, supporting initial case assessment, goal setting, and intervention planning.
Provide direct coaching and clear, candid feedback on volunteer performance, including written court reports, boundaries, and case practices.
Uphold CASA policies and ethical standards, ensuring volunteers maintain clear roles and strong professional boundaries.
Support volunteers in navigating complex, high-conflict, and trauma-impacted cases.
Review, edit, and submit court reports and ensure timely, accurate documentation.
Attend court hearings and case-related meetings to support volunteers.
Coach volunteers on advocacy, documentation, and adherence to program standards.
Assist in identifying and resolving challenges to volunteers' advocacy work, including addressing feedback from case professionals (e.g., caseworkers, attorneys, caregivers) in a professional and solution-focused manner.
Train and support volunteers to collaborate respectfully with children, caregivers, attorneys, human services professionals, school personnel, service providers, and other case stakeholders.
Support volunteer retention, development, and appreciation through excellent customer service and relationship building.
Case Management and Program Responsibilities
Maintain accurate, up-to-date case and volunteer records in the database.
Ensure timely documentation of case goals, monthly updates, and case notes.
Conduct monthly case reviews with each volunteer through in-person meetings or phone consultations to monitor progress and accountability.
Train and support volunteers in using the case management system.
Track program data and required grant metrics.
Collaborate with team members to improve processes and share information.
Participate in individual and team supervision meetings.
Assist with volunteer recruitment, screening, and ongoing training.
Participate in pre-service training and facilitate portions of the curriculum, ensuring new volunteers are prepared for the volunteer role.
Represent CASA professionally with courts, human services, and community partners.
Support program operations, special projects, and organizational initiatives as needed.
Participate in occasional travel and evening/weekend commitments.
Work Environment and Support
Comprehensive onboarding and training provided, including ongoing coaching and supervision.
Collaborative, team-oriented environment with regular peer consultation and support.
Opportunity to build expertise in child advocacy, court systems, volunteer supervision, and trauma-informed practice.
Mission-driven culture focused on meaningful impact for children and families.
Organization that values relationship-building, professional growth, and staff well-being.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Direct service experience working with children, youth, or families in high-stress systems (e.g., child welfare, juvenile justice, education, behavioral health, or related fields).
Demonstrated ability to handle exposure to trauma, crisis, and emotionally difficult situations with professionalism and sound judgment.
Proven ability to set and enforce boundaries, hold others accountable, and navigate complex interpersonal dynamics.
Experience providing direct feedback, coaching, and performance management (volunteers or staff).
