Job Overview

The Clinical Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily clinical and administrative functions of assigned unit(s). This role involves preparing staff schedules, managing resource allocation, and ensuring that patient care aligns with the organization's mission, vision, and goals.

Job DescriptionMinimum Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure in Massachusetts.
• A minimum of 5 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year in a charge or lead RN role.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).

Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties and responsibilities are intended to outline the general nature of the work and are not exhaustive. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.

• Utilizes expertise to identify potential issues and resources for patients and their families.
• Collaborates with the director to ensure staff maintains competency-based practices relevant to the patient population.
• Engages in nursing research initiatives.
• Seeks opportunities for personal professional development.
• Stays informed on regulatory matters and trends, employing proactive strategies to meet standards.
• Supervises staff by assessing performance, offering guidance, and providing timely feedback based on outcomes.
• Participates in interdisciplinary rounds to address patient and family needs, including discharge planning.
• Recognizes and addresses issues, concerns, and suggestions on behalf of patients and staff.
• Allocates resources and coordinates services to enhance patient care.
• Develops and monitors both operating and capital budgets, implementing strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Conducts performance evaluations for staff members.
• Participates in the staff recruitment process, provides direction and discipline as necessary, and orients new employees.
• Creates a supportive learning environment that promotes staff professional growth and development.
• Implements processes aimed at enhancing operations and practices for continuous quality improvement.
• Develops, implements, and monitors written policies and procedures.
• Leads or participates in hospital, departmental, and multidisciplinary teams, committees, councils, and special projects.
• Plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care delivery in accordance with established standards of practice.

Physical Requirements:

• Occasional lifting of 30-35 lbs and assisting with patient mobility.
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
• Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.
• Exposure to infectious diseases and potentially carcinogenic chemicals.
• Exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
• Requires fine manual dexterity for patient handling.
• Requires visual and auditory acuity to monitor patient care effectively.

• Effective communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and the healthcare team.
• Ability to maintain and enhance clinical knowledge, judgment, and skills.
• Understanding and application of the nursing process.
• Possesses strong clinical and theoretical knowledge.
• Demonstrates a proactive approach to challenges.

The base salary range reflects the minimum qualifications for this position.
