QA Automation Engineer

Our client is seeking a QA Automation Engineer for a 2+ year contract. This position requires candidates to already be local to Omaha, NE and must be willing to go onsite 1x/week minimum. This position is not accepting candidates that require to relocate to Omaha, NE. About the Role We are seeking a skilled QA Automation Engineer to join a long-term enterprise modernization initiative focused on application upgrades, patching, and technology modernization efforts. This role will play a critical part in ensuring application stability and reducing production risk as systems undergo frequent updates and enhancements. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Selenium-based test automation, regression testing, and enterprise application environments. You'll work closely with developers, business analysts, and application teams to validate functionality, identify defects, and maintain high-quality software delivery throughout the testing lifecycle. Responsibilities Develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium and related automation tools Build and expand regression test coverage for application changes Validate application functionality following patches, upgrades, and enhancements Create test cases and test scenarios based on business and technical requirements Perform functional, integration, and regression testing activities Identify, document, reproduce, and track software defects through resolution Retest defects and validate fixes throughout development cycles Troubleshoot failed automation scripts and determine root causes Partner with development teams, business stakeholders, and project resources Document testing results, defect trends, and coverage metrics Continuously identify opportunities to improve automation effectiveness and testing efficiency Tools & Environment Selenium Automation (Java-based framework preferred) Java WebDriver Cypress Playwright Regression Testing Integration Testing Enterprise Application Testing Defect Tracking & Test Documentation Competencies Strong stakeholder communication and collaboration skills Analytical mindset with excellent troubleshooting abilities Experience supporting enterprise application upgrades and patching initiatives Ability to work independently within large, complex environments Strong written and verbal communication Detail-oriented approach to testing and quality assurance Ability to assess business impact and production risk when validating changes Workplace Perks Long-term engagement (2-year initiative) High-visibility enterprise modernization program Opportunity to contribute to security-focused and technology debt reduction efforts Collaborative environment working alongside application teams and business stakeholders Hybrid work model Two-step interview process: 1-Hour Virtual Interview with Hiring Manager Team Panel Interview Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Omaha, NE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
