Location: Various school sites throughout Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley
Assignment Term: This position is contingent upon annual contract approval and is currently expected to continue through May 2027.
POSITION SUMMARY
The CyberPatriot Facilitator works closely with the CyberPatriot Coordinator to implement and support the CyberPatriot program at participating high school sites. This position facilitates cybersecurity and coding activities, supports students as they prepare for competitions, maintains required program documentation, and helps ensure that program goals and objectives are achieved.
CyberPatriot is a Beyond the Bell program designed to introduce students to cybersecurity, information technology, and coding through a competition-based curriculum. Students prepare to participate in the CyberPatriot competition during the fall semester and the National Cyber League competition during the spring semester.
This position requires regular travel to school sites throughout the Los Angeles area and the San Fernando Valley. Employees will be assigned a primary work location or designated hub based on their program assignment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The CyberPatriot Facilitator will:
- Facilitate cybersecurity, coding, curriculum-based, and educational activities for participating students.
- Instruct, guide, and support students as they develop technical skills and prepare for CyberPatriot and National Cyber League competitions.
- Lead icebreakers, team-building exercises, and other student engagement activities as needed.
- Facilitate student competition events and provide supervision during competitions, field trips, and special events.
- Attend required trainings, meetings, conference calls, and coaching sessions.
- Participate in weekly meetings with the CyberPatriot Coordinator, Site Coordinators, and other Facilitators to support effective program implementation.
- Work collaboratively with school-site staff under the direction of the CyberPatriot Coordinator.
- Maintain accurate and timely program documentation, including student registration forms, attendance and sign-in/sign-out records, and field trip paperwork.
- Organize, transport, distribute, and maintain program materials and supplies.
- Pick up program supplies from EduCare’s Main Office, warehouse, or other designated locations as needed.
- Monitor student participation, engagement, behavior, and safety during program activities.
- Follow all EduCare Foundation, school-site, and program policies and procedures.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
- Serve as a substitute facilitator at other program locations when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- An associate degree from an accredited college or university, completion of at least two years of college, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- At least two years of experience working in an after-school, youth development, educational, or similar program.
- Previous experience working with elementary, middle, or high school students.
- Experience with CyberPatriot programming and lesson planning.
- Ability to instruct, engage, and support student participants.
- Working knowledge of advanced Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize assignments effectively.
- Strong initiative, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and follow-through.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to remain focused and productive while working in an environment with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to adapt to changing program needs, schedules, locations, and assignments.
- Availability to work approximately 15 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during after-school hours.
- Availability to work occasional Saturdays for student competitions, field trips, and special events.
- A valid California Class C driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness and ability to travel to multiple locations throughout Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ certification.
- Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate, IT Fundamentals certification, or a comparable credential.
- Experience using the Python programming language.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

TRAVEL AND WORK-LOCATION REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be assigned a home site based on their program assignment. If an employee is assigned to one school, that school will generally serve as the employee’s primary work location. Employees assigned to multiple sites will be assigned a designated hub location, which may be the EduCare Main Office or Orthopaedic Medical Magnet High School.
Mileage reimbursement will be provided for eligible work-related travel in accordance with EduCare Foundation policy and applicable law. Reimbursable mileage will generally include authorized work-related travel that exceeds the employee’s normal round-trip commute between their home and designated primary or hub location.
Although employees are initially assigned to specific school sites, assignments may be changed based on program enrollment, staffing, funding, school-site needs, or other operational requirements.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities. However, the CyberPatriot Facilitator is responsible for supervising and supporting students during program activities, competitions, field trips, and special events.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. The employee may also be required to bend, kneel, crouch, or stoop.
The employee must be able to:
- Regularly lift or move items weighing up to 10 pounds.
- Frequently lift or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally lift or move program materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance when appropriate.
- Transport, organize, and set up program supplies and equipment.
- Use computers and other technology for extended periods.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position primarily works at school sites, offices, classrooms, computer labs, and student competition or event locations. The employee may occasionally work outdoors during field trips, special events, or transitions between locations. The noise level is generally moderate but may vary during student activities and events.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Before beginning employment, the selected candidate must:
- Successfully complete a Live Scan background check.
- Provide proof of a negative tuberculosis test dated within 60 days before the hire date.
- Meet any additional school-district or program clearance requirements.
The selected candidate must also:
- Obtain CPR and First Aid certification within 90 days of employment, unless an earlier deadline is required.
- Complete all assigned employment and compliance training, including sexual-harassment-prevention training.
- Wear an EduCare staff shirt, sweatshirt, identification badge, or other required attire while working at school sites or program events.
- Maintain all licenses, certifications, and clearances required for the position.
ASSIGNMENT CONTINGENCY
This position is dependent upon continued program funding and annual contract approval. The current assignment is expected to end in May 2027 unless it is extended, modified, or ended earlier based on funding, enrollment, contract status, school-site needs, or other operational considerations.
