We are searching for a Loan Accounting Specialist to provide onsite support for a regional bank's SBA lending operations. This position is onsite, pays $24-$26 per hour, and is contract-to-hire.

Responsibilities

• Manage the boarding and callback process for SBA, USDA, and Commercial loans, including SBA and USDA participation loans
• Perform loan maintenance on the SBA system, including processing payments and reconciling returned and non-posted items
• Prepare the monthly SBA 1502 report and monthly USDA remittances
• Review and balance daily SBA General Ledger accounts and resolve billing issues and discrepancies
• Track loan collection expenses, vendor fees, and other professional fees
• Prepare and organize original note files for retention
• Manage vendor payments as needed
• Ensure SBA loan ticklers are properly and accurately documented throughout the loan boarding process
• Assist loan officers, lending support staff, and other bank personnel in resolving loan servicing inquiries and issues
• Process and resolve complex customer transactions, problems, and inquiries
• Respond to customer and staff inquiries and route them to the appropriate department or person, ensuring follow-through
• Support special projects by gathering data and preparing reports for senior management and audits
• Provide backup coverage for other SBA department functions as needed, including cross-training
• Deliver strong customer service and refer customers to appropriate staff for additional bank services

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the financial services industry
• 4+ years of customer service or relevant work experience
• Advanced knowledge of financial institution operations, including state and federal banking compliance regulations
• Advanced math skills, including calculating interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages, and balancing accounts
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and specialty software systems
• Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to draft reports and correspondence
• Ability to manage complex, non-standardized problems with minimal supervision
• Strong prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
