Clinical Research Assistant

The National Center for School Mental Health (NCSMH), housedwithin the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and theSchool of Medicine at the University of Maryland-Baltimore (UMB),seeks to hire one full-time Clinical Research Assistant to assistwith new and ongoing faculty research and implementationprojects. The Clinical Research Assistant will assist with theperformance of 2-3 federal- and state-funded NCSMH projects. Thefirst project focuses on developing workforce and caregivercapacity to deliver evidence-based interventions (prevention, earlyintervention, and treatment) to address adolescent substance abuseacross the State of Maryland. The second project provides familyeducation programming, educator training, and universal mentalhealth interventions to youth and families during and after schoolhours. The Clinical Research Assistant may also assist with themulti-state implementation of the School Health Assessment andPerformance Evaluation (SHAPE) system, a web-based platformdesigned to support school mental health quality improvement.Across assigned projects, the Clinical Research Assistant willsupport a range of activities related to project management,implementation, evaluation, and reporting activities. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing project data,conducting literature reviews, coordinating with local, state, andnational partners, and supporting meeting logistics and materialdevelopment. This is a full-time, contractualposition. Primary Duties Responsible for assisting with the performance of researchprojects in a clinical setting, including recruitment of potentialstudy subjects and collection and organization of data. Assist with performing data collection by conducting researchinterviews, reviewing medical charts, and accessing computerizedmedical information systems. Assists with recruiting and screensubjects for research studies according to IRB approvedprotocols. Assist in verifying participant eligibility; obtains consentand enrollment; and assures accurate demographic information forfollow-up. Assist with data analysis and interpretation, and thedevelopment of statistical reports of study data using descriptivestatistics using SAS, STATA, and SPSS statistical software. Assistsin developing, submitting, and providing content for grants,papers, abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations. Conducts andanalyzes literature searches. Assist the Principle Investigator and other research personnelin the development of research protocols and materials by providingstudy analysis and forming conclusions and recommendations. Assist in performing administrative duties. Maintainscommunication with participants and colleagues regarding protocolspecific information and research orders. May also assist withproviding assessments and ensuring protocol compliance whileparticipants are in a study. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in psychiatry, psychology,sociology, social work, human services, or a scientific field ofstudy related to the research of the clinical setting. Experience Prior clinical research experience preferred.Experience on previous research projects and familiarity with SPSS(a statistical software package) preferred. Other Except for qualifications established by law,additional related experience and formal education in which one hasgained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for fullperformance of the work of the job class may be substituted for theeducation or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year ofrelated experience. Proficient in common datamanagement and communication tools (e.g., Excel, Qualtrics,PowerPoint). Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of allapplicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effectiveuse of applicable technology/systems. Hiring Range $49,500 - $52,000, commensurate with educationand experience.
