Mechanical EngineerWe are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our Architecture team and play a key role in establishing our firm's first in-house MEP practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems and components. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring innovative solutions from concept through production.Essential Functions:Design mechanical systems, components, and products using CAD softwarePerform engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to validate designsDevelop and test prototypes, evaluate performance, and implement design improvementsCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and architectsPrepare technical reports, documentation, and specificationsParticipate in lifecycle management, including concept development, prototyping, production, and supportEnsure all designs comply with industry standards and codesTroubleshoot issues related to design, manufacturing, or product performanceContribute to continuous improvement initiatives for product design and engineering processesRequired Traits & Characteristics:Proficiency in CAD and engineering analysis tools, BIM experience preferredExcellent problem-solving and analytical skillsStrong communication skills and ability to work across departmentsKnowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirementsRequired Education/Experience:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering10-15+ years of experience in mechanical designProfessional Engineering (PE) licenseTravel:Position based in Royal Oak or Southgate, MichiganTravel between offices for collaboration with team members and for project meetings will be requiredAbout Wightman:Let's face it: no matter your career trajectory – whether you're just starting out, currently in a mid-level position, or are looking to accelerate your career opportunities – you want to work for a firm that does great work, gives back to their community, supports your career path, and do it all alongside people with whom you can connect.
