Job Title: K-5 Elementary Evening Custodian

Location: On-site at Banning Lewis Ranch Academy

FLSA Status: Non-exempt, Hourly

Reports To: Principal/Assistant Principal

Work Hours/Days: Full-Time Monday-Friday

Typical Calendar Days Per Year: 12 Month

We are a K–5 school serving over 700 students and part of a unified K–12 system with Banning Lewis Preparatory Academy. Our school community values relationships first, high expectations for all learners, and developing citizens of character.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior custodial or cleaning experience preferred
• Ability to work independently and follow directions
• Must pass a background check

• Attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean environment
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Reliability and strong work ethic
• Awareness of safety practices and procedures
• Ability to follow directions and complete tasks consistently

Position Overview:

• The Evening Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly school environment after school hours. This role ensures classrooms and common areas are ready for the next school day.

Core Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas
• Empty trash and recycling and replace liners
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors
• Restock supplies such as paper products and soap
• Assist with basic building security by ensuring doors and windows are secured
• Report maintenance or safety concerns to appropriate staff
• Support set-up or clean-up for school events as needed

• Evening hours with limited supervision
• Physical work including standing, walking, bending, and lifting
• Ability to maintain a consistent and reliable schedule

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, climb or balance, push, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently, including pushing a student who uses a wheelchair. Requires a sufficient range of physical strength, endurance, and mobility to assist in the personal care of students.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work primarily in a school environment.

Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, compare, analyze, coordinate, instruct, evaluate, and use interpersonal skills. Occasionally required to compile, copy, compute and negotiate
