AIRPORT MANAGER

Airports Manager The purpose of this job is to plan, direct and supervise the daily operations of Dorchester County airports as well as to perform related professional, administrative and supervisory work as required. The class plans, organizes and implements programs within major organizational policies. The Airports Manager is responsible for the general operations and development of the airports in Summerville and St. George as a critical economic benefit for Dorchester County. This position develops organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports. Essential job functions include supervising, directing, and evaluating assigned staff; coordinating, assigning and reviewing work; managing terminal building maintenance and airport horizontal infrastructure; overseeing daily FBO operations; ensuring FBO revenue streams are optimized; ensuring compliance with FAA, NFPA, EPA, and industry standards; overseeing fuel inventory management; supervising fuel truck operations; engaging with airport users, stakeholders, and the community; drafting and reviewing local policies and procedures; developing and executing strategic improvement plans; directing and executing airport operating expenses and revenue; drafting emergency response plans; managing contracts/agreements; conducting daily inspections; providing aircraft refueling; operating aircraft tugs, ground support equipment, and towing aircraft; monitoring UNICOM radio; greeting customers; supporting flight schools; coordinating rentals; transporting passengers; completing fuel logs, inspection records, customer invoices, and related documentation; performing general clerical tasks including document preparation, filing, fee collection, and customer support; and performing other related job duties as assigned. Education and experience required include a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Aviation or related discipline, and eight years of aviation or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special qualifications include possessing and maintaining a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history, and a designation as an Accredited Airport Executive is desired.
