About This Role HBK Engineering is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Associate Permit Coordinator to manage the full lifecycle of project permitting. This critical role serves as the central point of contact for all regulatory inquiries, ensuring continuous compliance across local, state, and federal jurisdictions for all engineering projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for navigating complex permitting processes, preparing robust applications, tracking submissions through regulatory agencies, and coordinating internal departmental compliance efforts. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to maintain meticulous records under pressure. Lake Mary, FL or Atlanta, GA What You'll Do Serve as the primary point of contact for all permit-related inquiries Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing permits Research and prepare permit applications for submission to the appropriate regulatory agency Track and monitor the status of permit applications through approval and construction processes Prepare reports on permit activity as requested Coordinate with other departments within the organization to ensure compliance with permit requirements Keep abreast of changes in permit regulations and advise management of potential impacts Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to permitting Serve as liaison between the organization and regulatory permitting agencies Maintain accurate records of permit activity Respond to client inquiries regarding permit status Additional documentation responsibilities and ability to train others Responsible for working on more challenging permitting projects with limited supervision Perform other duties as assigned Railroad crossing permit experience Wetlands and endangered species permitting Easement reviews Parks and Recreation permitting FAA permitting Xcel Energy experience What You'll Bring Right-of-way (ROW) permitting City and county street permitting DOT permitting Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems Strong time-management and organizational skills Ability to Multi-task. Solid interpersonal skills Must be proactive and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team Must be able to maintain a high level of accuracy and pay close attention to detail High school diploma or equivalent 0-2 years of proven experience in administrative support and/or customer service Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at a time.
