DEPARTMENT: Family Health Center

SHIFT: 10 Hour Shifts

POSITION SUMMARYThe Clerical Assistant I is responsible for managing all tasks related to the front office of the outpatient clinic(s), including scheduling, insurance verification, patient registration, patient discharge, co-pay processing, heavy telephones and customer service in a high-volume medical setting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Coordinates aspects of patient visit including scheduling, registration, insurance verification and discharge.
• Demonstrates customer service skills to both internal and external customers in a busy medical office setting.
• All other duties or responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education (or substitute experience) Required:

• BLS Certification within 3 months of hire

Education Preferred:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Medical Terminology

Minimum Experience Required:

• N/A

Experience Preferred:

• Medical billing
• Primary or Specialty care clinic
• Rural Health Clinic experience

Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills.
• Strong organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
• Must have the ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other members of the health care team.
• Must be able to withstand stressful situations.
• Bilingual preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills
