Veteran Service Officer Technician* (County Promotional)

Location: San Bernardino County, CA – Hesperia, California, United States Job Summary Office of Veterans Affairs (VA) is recruiting for a Veteran Service Officer Technician. The officer will perform administrative clerical support work involving a variety of complex programs and services within the department. Incumbents will provide support with case management and claims processes, interpreting and explaining program regulations, policies and procedures, explaining program benefits and resources, and preparing necessary correspondence and reports; they will also maintain records. Official Title: Office Specialist. Minimum Requirements Must possess two (2) years of full‑time equivalent work experience performing complex clerical tasks in an office environment. Experience may include duties performed that are non‑routine in nature and require exercising independent decision making related to case management, determining eligibility and/or providing services. Qualifying experience is typically equivalent to the San Bernardino County Senior Office Assistant (OAIII) classification and above. Retail sales and food service experience is not qualifying. Desired Qualifications Excellent interpersonal, customer service, time management and computer skills. VA benefits and case management experience is highly desired. Strong integrity, loyalty, empathy and active listening and communication skills are highly desired. Conditions of Employment Accreditation: Incumbents must obtain California Department of Veterans Affairs (CALVET) accreditation within eighteen (18) months of hire.
