Quality Assurance Data Analyst

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Quality Assurance Data Analyst based in the United States.

This remote contract role focuses on ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of complex datasets throughout their lifecycle.
You’ll investigate how data moves through systems and validate imports, transformations, updates, and extracts.
Working primarily with SQL/T-SQL and Excel, you’ll test business logic across datasets ranging from hundreds to millions of records.
You’ll collaborate closely with data engineers, business analysts, project managers, and QA professionals.
The role combines hands-on testing, analytical problem-solving, documentation, and defect resolution in a deadline-driven environment.
Your work will help ensure reliable data outputs and high-quality deliverables across complex data services initiatives.

Accountabilities

• Validate the accuracy and completeness of data imports, updates, transformations, and extracts across large and complex datasets.

• Review SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and other database processes to understand and validate underlying logic.

• Write and execute SQL test queries to verify data integrity, business rules, expected results, and data-quality requirements.

• Use SQL Server, Excel, and related tools to analyze datasets and confirm that business and project requirements have been satisfied.

• Develop and execute test cases covering standard scenarios, exceptions, anomalies, and other relevant conditions.

• Review requirements and specifications to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and potential data-quality concerns.

• Partner with data engineers, business analysts, project managers, and QA colleagues to identify, document, troubleshoot, and resolve defects.

• Verify that corrections and resolutions have been implemented accurately and completely.

• Help translate functional requirements into practical testing scenarios and validation criteria.

• Conduct peer reviews to identify errors and ensure adherence to established data-services standards.

• Maintain clear testing documentation and work artifacts demonstrating completed validation activities.

• Provide accurate and timely status updates to leadership, project managers, workforce teams, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

• Four-year college degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.

• At least 2 years of database testing or data-validation experience, including writing and executing complex SQL queries.

• At least 1 year of hands-on experience with T-SQL, ANSI-89, and/or ANSI-92 SQL.

• Strong understanding of relational databases and the ability to interpret moderately to highly complex SQL logic.

• Experience reviewing stored procedures, functions, triggers, and other database logic.

• Previous experience in a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, QA/Data Testing, Process Specialist, or comparable analytical role.

• Strong analytical and deductive reasoning skills, with exceptional attention to detail.

• Working knowledge of data modeling and data organization concepts.

• Familiarity with ETL concepts, tools, and processes.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

• Practical understanding of SQL concepts including NULL handling, subqueries, primary and foreign keys, constraints, transactions, indexing, stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, temporary tables, CTEs, BCP, and BULK INSERT.

• Ability to query, create, validate, and update data for testing purposes; this role does not require SQL development expertise, but strong hands-on SQL capabilities are essential.

• Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a deadline-driven environment.

• Ability to work remotely and manage assigned responsibilities with accuracy and consistency.

• This position is available to candidates located in approved U.S. states.
