Laboratory AssistantJoin a dynamic laboratory team that plays a crucial role in the pre-analytical and post-analytical processes of testing. You will be responsible for receiving, logging, and preparing incoming samples for the lab. This role also includes managing sample storage and disposal. It is an excellent opportunity for those looking to start or grow a career in a laboratory setting.ResponsibilitiesMeet couriers to receive samples from across the USA and internationally, initiating the tracking process.Verify the arrival of all samples, inspect for damage, and manage packaging disposal.Utilize multiple computer software systems, remembering specific applications for different samples.Ensure sample names match requisitions.Handle various types of samples, primarily urine, but also blood, serum, plasma, and body fluids.Create and apply labels to samples after data entry into systems.Occasionally aliquot samples, centrifuge, or freeze them for stabilization as needed.Contribute to processing 5,000-11,000 samples daily.Manage workflow for sample maintenance in walk-in refrigerators and freezers after 3, 6, and 12 months.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma, with a preference for some science coursework.Desire to advance within the labJob Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Saint Paul, MN.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.53 - $19.53/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
