Complex Event Manager Location: Las Vegas, Nevada (Westin Las Vegas) Compensation: $60,000 - $65,000 per year Overview The Complex Event Manager coordinates and supervises assigned group business, ensuring the closing of events and related financial activities are completed profitably while maintaining high-quality product and service standards. The role involves achieving banquet and catering budgets, marketing event ideas, reducing employee turnover, and maintaining revenue and payroll budgets, all while fostering repeat business through effective client liaison and outstanding service. Responsibilities Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times. Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service‑oriented manner. Listen to, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests. Multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines. Approach all encounters with guests and employees attentively and courteously. Attend all hotel‑required meetings and trainings. Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required. Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards. Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing nametags. Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations. Maximize productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions. Handle problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving them as necessary. Understand and evaluate complex information and data from various sources to meet objectives. Maintain confidentiality of information. Perform other duties as requested by management. Manage existing accounts and follow up with client re‑solicitation to capture future business. Respond to requests by Meeting Planners immediately. Interact with outside planners and vendors for event set‑up. Maintain pricing integrity and propose upscale menus for clients. Create, review, and revise rooming and VIP lists. Manage the function book and adjust space to ensure maximum revenue potential. Be visible on the floor and assist staff during functions. Respond to guest complaints promptly. Keep immediate manager informed of all problems or matters requiring attention. Work with F&B managers and keep them informed of F&B issues. Prepare and submit required reports promptly. Know meeting room set‑ups and capabilities. Know sleeping room configurations and types. Have comprehensive knowledge of all operational departments within the hotel. Be involved in or conduct departmental and hotel training (e.g., One‑to‑One Customer Service Training). Plan and execute holiday and special events with the Catering & Event Managers. Use feedback from Meeting Planner evaluations to improve service and quality. Coordinate all aspects of the ongoing implementation of the Highgate Hotel Enrichment philosophy of service. Ensure participation within the department for monthly Highgate Hotel team meetings. Lead weekly meetings such as BEO, ESS, and resume sessions. Focus the team on their roles in contributing to Guest Service and audit scores. Conduct meetings according to Highgate Hotel standards as required by management. Qualifications 2–5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or as a meeting planner. Proficient in Windows, company‑approved spreadsheets, and word processing. Knowledge of F&B preparation techniques, health department rules, Nevada liquor laws, and regulations. Marriott Consolidated Inventory System (CI) experience is a plus. Flexible and willing to work long hours, including weekends and holidays, as required.
