The Ting Lab at Stanford University ( is seeking a Life Science Research Professional 1 to be an integral member of a 14-member chemical biology research team that is developing novel molecular technologies for probing molecular and cellular networks in biology and neuroscience. The goal of this work is to develop transformative and scalable technologies to detect, manipulate, and discover novel pathways that give rise to function in living systems. We employ a wide range of techniques including directed evolution, protein engineering, computational protein design, spatial transcriptomics, CRISPR gene editing, and high-content microscopy in our work. Candidate must be highly collaborative, resourceful, organized, enjoy problem solving, and have strong communication skills. In addition, you will manage daily laboratory functions, and support specific research projects in the design and execution of experiments. We seek motivated recent college graduates with substantial research experience who are looking for a launching pad into the next phase of their career. Starting date is flexible between June 16 and July 15, 2025 by mutual agreement. Duties include: Plan and execute biochemical and/or cell biological experiments related to specific research projects in the Ting laboratory. The Ting laboratory develops molecular technologies, such as proximity labeling and calcium recorders, for the study of protein networks and cellular networks in cell biology and neuroscience. LSRP1 may work on one or more of the project areas described here: Support daily laboratory functions and research by purchasing reagents, maintaining laboratory stocks, overseeing laboratory safety, maintaining laboratory equipment, managing chemical inventory, and providing general lab support as needed. Assist with orientation and training of new staff or students on lab procedures or techniques. Work with the PI (Alice Ting) to maintain a positive and inclusive lab culture. Analyze data and troubleshoot experiments in collaboration with one or more senior researchers. Review literature on an ongoing basis to remain current with new procedures and apply learnings to related research. Contribute to publication of findings as needed. Participate in the preparation of written documents, including procedures, presentations, and proposals. Other duties may also be assigned.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, Cell Biology, or related scientific field is desired. Proficiency with basic molecular biology techniques, such as gel electrophoresis, PCR, and recombinant DNA techniques. Meticulous record keeping and organizational skills.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

General understanding of scientific principles. Demonstrated performance to use knowledge and skills when needed. Demonstrated ability to apply theoretical knowledge of science principles to problem solve work. Ability to maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes. General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs, databases, and scientific applications. Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance. Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat, grasp lightly, use fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, perform desk-based computer tasks, use telephone, write by hand, lift, carry, push and pull objects weighing over 40 pounds. Occasionally sit, kneel, crawl, reach and work above shoulders, sort and file paperwork or parts. Must have correctible vision to perform duties of the job. Ability to bend, squat, kneel, stand, reach above shoulder level, and move on hard surfaces for up to eight hours. Ability to lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in a dusty, dirty, and odorous environment.WORKING CONDITIONS:
May require working in close proximity to blood borne pathogens. Position may at times require the employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present. Employee must perform tasks that require the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and shoes, protective clothing and gloves, and possibly a respirator. May require extended or unusual work hours based on research requirements and business needs. The expected pay range for this position is $31.40 to $38.89 per hour.
