Maintenance Mechanic

Star Staffing is seeking a skilled Maintenance Manual Machinist/Fabricator for a Manufacturing Leader in the Central Valley! Pay: $34–$40/hr, based on experience Mon‑Fri Overview We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Machinist/Fabricator to support plant operations through machining, fabrication, equipment repair, and general maintenance. This hands‑on role involves troubleshooting, designing, and modifying parts and systems to keep production running efficiently and safely. Key Responsibilities Operate manual machining equipment (lathe, mill, drill press) to create and repair components. Perform metal fabrication, welding (MIG, TIG, stick), cutting, and assembly tasks. Repair, install, and troubleshoot mechanical systems, production machinery, and facility equipment. Design and fabricate custom components, tooling, and safety guards. Conduct pipe fitting, torch cutting, and layout work on various materials. Support preventive maintenance programs, inspections, and documentation. Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve equipment issues. Assist with facility maintenance, including carpentry and basic electrical work. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Qualifications Strong experience with manual machining, metal fabrication, welding, and pipe fitting. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Hands‑on mechanical aptitude with strong problem‑solving skills. Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices; basic electrical knowledge preferred. Experience with shop equipment including lathes, mills, drill presses, band saws, grinders, and hand tools. Effective communication skills and ability to train others on technical processes. Associate degree, technical school, or equivalent experience. U.S. work authorization required. Physical Requirements Combination of sitting, standing, walking, lifting (up to 75 lbs), bending, reaching, and manual dexterity. Work may be indoors or outdoors, with exposure to temperature changes, dust, and uneven surfaces. Must meet vision and respirator certification requirements.
