Field Upholstery & Wood Repair Technician

Your Impact

• Restore a wide range of furniture products with minimal guidance—entry‑level through advanced repairs.
• Perform top‑surface touch‑ups on case goods and tables; refinish solid‑color sides/paper finishes.
• Execute small corner rebuilds and advanced replacement‑part repairs.
• Apply general knowledge of spray‑booth setup/use when working in shop environments.
• Coach warehouse personnel on quick touch‑up techniques during inspections.

Core Responsibilities

• Assess damage and determine the most efficient, effective repair approach; advise when an item is not repairable on‑site.
• Inspect damaged products and confirm whether they can be restored to like‑new condition.
• Document and follow through on recurring damage trends; communicate tool/part/hardware needs.
• Maintain a clean repair area and an organized, stocked service vehicle.
• Operate hand and power tools safely (drills, impact drivers, multi‑tools).
• Follow planned routes for on‑time customer appointments.
• Adhere to company driving policy, including annual MVR review requirements.
• Assist fellow technicians as needed and demonstrate our Core and Growth Values.
• Complete periodic bench testing to validate and advance your skill set.
• Comply with all safety regulations and proper product/chemical usage.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• 1 year of practical experience in furniture repair (upholstery, leather, wood refinishing) or related material work with color matching.
• English reading/writing comprehension; additional languages are beneficial.
• Strong independence and time management; ability to learn in‑house computer programs.
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable MVR per company standards.
• Proficiencies: Forklift Licensed; furniture technician experience.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral; depth perception and focus adjustment.
• Hearing and speech sufficient for clear communication.
• Sustained sitting; repetitive hand activities (keyboard, POS/handheld tools).
• Standing/walking; bending, squatting, stooping, kneeling, crouching; reaching at/above shoulder height.
• Lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. independently; more with assistance.
• Primarily in private homes/retail; occasional warehouse settings.
• Exposure to oil, latex, spray paint, household chemicals, biological odors, household dust; moderate office noise.
