Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our MedSurg/Tele unit specializing in neurological care. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care and effectively manage a diverse patient population, including those with neurological deficits and post-neurosurgery needs.

Unit Information

Unit Type: Telemetry
Number of Beds: 25
Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
Common Diagnoses: Includes joint replacements, fractures, COPD exacerbation, post-operative care, sepsis, GI bleeds, and more.

Shift Details

Shift Length: 12 hours
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Shift Notes: Night shift schedule

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive patient care, including monitoring and administering medications.
Titrate drips for Heparin, Lidocaine, and Ketamine as needed.
Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Utilize telemetry equipment, with tele techs interpreting strips while maintaining awareness of patient status.
Conduct hourly rounding to enhance patient care and satisfaction.

Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a nursing role, preferably in a med/surg or telemetry setting.
Certifications Required: Basic Life Support (BLS), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
Additional Requirements: Must pass an open book exam with a 90% or higher during orientation.
Proficiency in handling basic patient care needs, including working with Patient Care Technicians and demonstrating strong teamwork abilities.

Additional Information

Orientation: A two-day unit-specific orientation is provided.
Weekend Requirements: Must work at least every other weekend, with potential additional weekend shifts based on census.
Holiday Requirements: Involves working 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year's.
Floating Requirements: May require floating to other medical surgical areas or units as needed.
Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs.
Patient Demographics: Must be prepared to serve diverse patient populations, including those from various cultural backgrounds.
