About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in a large, urban hospital License: Active State RN License required Certifications: BLS required; ACLS and CPI preferred Must-Have: - Epic charting experience - Prior experience with drips - Experience in behavioral health patient care - Must be comfortable floating to different units Description: This position offers a 36 or 48-hour option for shifts. RNs will be expected to float frequently to meet the staffing needs of the hospital. The unit is a general medical surgical and telemetry unit, also caring for orthopedic patients. Patients may include those recovering from total knee and hip replacements, and those with complex medical conditions such as pulmonary, sepsis, GI, cardiac, renal, and psychiatric illnesses. The workload consists of both medical and surgical patients, including those with behavioral health conditions that may be flagged as violent. Training for safety and de-escalation will be provided. Ratios are typically 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night, with a possibility of 1:7 at night depending on staffing. Staff will include care teams with various support roles. Travelers must adhere to smoking policies as this is a nicotine-free facility. Weekend requirements include four shifts out of eight possible in a four-week period. Travelers must work two out of three major holidays during the winter season. Local candidates will not be accepted; candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility. Those with pending licenses may be considered if their license is in hand by the time of submission. Mandatory dress code includes specific scrubs with the facility's logo. This role requires experience in a Level 1 trauma facility within the last year. Candidates should have experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, as well as knowledge in telemetry monitoring. Behavioral health experience is preferred, especially in acute care settings. All candidates are required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, with exemptions considered on a case-by-case basis. This role involves working with a variety of interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
