Staff Accountant

Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing team. This individual will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day accounting functions of the organization, including month-end close, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and general ledger maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and a desire to contribute to a collaborative team environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts Prepare and analyze financial reports to ensure accuracy and completeness Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records Assist with internal and external audit requests Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies Participate in special projects and ad hoc financial analysis Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 1-4 years of accounting experience preferred Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ERP systems Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Effective written and verbal communication skills Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
