Farm Operations Manager

Description Directs production and processing operations through a team of functional managers and front line supervisors, ensuring increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of manpower, materials and machines. Key Responsibilities Manages policy deployment in Lean Manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on‑time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures. Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development. Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships. Manages material requirements to increase inventory turns and reduce levels on hand. Ensures compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on‑time delivery. Balances work cell capacity/loading across the plant. Manages compliance with state and federal regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree (preferably in Human Resources) or equivalent work experience in the poultry industry. 5-10 years of prior poultry management work experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Extensive knowledge of poultry management including the care and nutritional needs of chickens. Understanding of the operation and maintenance of equipment used in egg production and egg processing. Understanding of the maintenance needs of barns, mills, tractors and vehicles in an agricultural environment. Understanding of bio‑security needs in a poultry environment and the protection of the flock from disease. Understanding of preferred animal welfare practices in the industry. Strong communication skills. Team building skills. Ability to manage several projects at the same time. Conflict resolution skills. Ability to follow and enforce company policies and procedures consistently. Ability to manage a budget in order to run the farm cost efficiently. Physical Demands Sit, use keyboard, use fine manipulation with hands and fingers. Lift up to 10 pounds. Work Environment Clean, temperature‑controlled environment. Noise level is low. No personal protective equipment needed. Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. Temperature varies with outside temperature. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Proper personal protective equipment will be required during certain working conditions. Employees are required to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) due to work in a food manufacturing environment (hairnets, clean clothes, etc.).
