Controller
CFS is partnering with a highly regarded professional services organization to identify a Controller to lead and oversee the firm's accounting and financial operations. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced accounting professional with a law firm background who enjoys working closely with firm leadership and driving financial excellence. The position offers a hybrid schedule with 4 days onsite in Boston and a competitive salary range of $160,000-$190,000 .
Controller Responsibilities
- Lead all accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close activities
- Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management functions
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Manage annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis processes
- Monitor firm profitability and provide strategic financial insights to leadership
- Coordinate annual audits and tax-related activities
- Develop and maintain internal controls, financial policies, and compliance procedures
- Oversee partner compensation and related financial reporting
- Manage banking relationships and cash flow planning
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA strongly preferred
- Required: Prior law firm accounting experience
- 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including management responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with accounting and financial management systems
- Competitive salary range of $160,000-$190,000
