This role focuses on building high-quality mechanical assemblies used in medical device products and instruments. You will use a variety of hand and power tools, follow detailed work instructions, and work within a computer-directed system to ensure each assembly meets strict quality and traceability standards. You will inspect components and assemblies thoroughly, support continuous improvement activities, and contribute to a reliable and scalable production process.

Responsibilities:

• Build mechanical assemblies for medical device products and instruments using a variety of hand and power tools.
• Follow detailed work instructions and strictly adhere to computer-directed vPoke® assembly principles.
• Ensure all assemblies and components are properly handled, inserted, and inspected at every step of the process.
• Use comparative images and control mechanisms within the vPoke system to validate each step before moving to the next.
• Maintain consistent build quality so each unit is produced using the same sequences, tolerances, and parts, regardless of operator.
• Cross-train to perform other functions on the mechanical production floor and support other departments as needed.
• Support team projects and process improvement activities as directed, contributing ideas to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Confirm each completed step audibly and visually within the vPoke system to ensure 100% traceability and accurate device history records.
• Comply with all safety rules, regulations, company policies, and established procedures while performing all tasks.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a positive attitude and clear communication with team members.

Essential Skills:

• Basic mechanical assembly skills; prior hands-on assembly experience is preferred.
• Experience using hand and power tools for assembly or mechanical repair work.
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions and standardized processes accurately.
• Proficiency in verbal and written English to understand instructions and communicate effectively.
• Capability to work independently with little or no supervision while meeting quality and productivity expectations.
• Strong attention to detail and aptitude for inspecting components and assemblies for correctness and completeness.
• Positive attitude and good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
• Commitment to adhere to all safety rules and regulations associated with the position.
• Reliability in complying with company policies and following all documented procedures.
• Willingness to participate in intensive training and extensive reading of instructions and procedures as required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in mechanical assembly, electronic assembly, or working on an assembly line environment.
• Familiarity with blueprint reading and interpreting visual work instructions or diagrams.
• Experience in mechanical repair or related mechanical work.
• Comfort working with computer-directed systems or guided assembly technologies.
• Ability to adapt to cross-training and perform multiple roles within a production environment.
• Interest in continuous learning and improving processes within a structured manufacturing system.

Work Environment:

The work environment is a unique, technology-driven production setting that differs from typical manufacturing facilities. Assemblies are built using a computer-directed system called vPoke®, which provides step-by-step sequences, images of parts and tools, and completed examples to guide each build. Custom part trays hold components in the exact order needed so no slot is left empty, helping ensure no parts are missing at the start of a build. The vPoke system validates each completed step, captures visual images, and automatically stores data electronically to create a comprehensive device history record. Operators interact with the system through sight, sound, and touch, enhancing concentration and engagement throughout the assembly process. The environment emphasizes precise, repeatable sequences that are scalable for different product volumes and complexities, with strict control over who can build each sequence. You will work on a mechanical production floor that supports cross-training and collaboration across departments, in a setting that prioritizes safety, process discipline, and zero-defect output for complex medical device and life science products.

Job Type & Location:

This is a contract position based out of Morgan Hill, CA.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
